He had to call Egonwanne out before he tried to change everyone's mind about going to war. Egonwanne look around at Okonkwo and said "Why are you so negative?" Okonkwo stood in silence. Then he continued "Okika is trying to give us a strategy to help our clan and you are trying to bring drama between us as brothers."
Okonkwo walked out the meeting thinking to himself what did he do. He set us his obi all night and thought about that all has happening his life. From his sorry father, his exile, to his outburst he finally realize that he has totally embarrassed himself. He was the cause of his embarassing situation.
He woke up the next day and began to clean up the mess around the village. Soon his sons joined him. Everyone else soon joined him. When Okonkwo turned around and saw everyone helping, he smiled. Finally he realized that his community could not continue to grow if they do not act as brothers.

Gettin' Grown Observation

I read three of the students in the class comments on the short film Gettin' Grown. From what I read I think that the film would have reminded me of my childhood. Someone described the parents way of discipline as treating their son as a mature adult. That is how my parents treated me growing up and I think that I turned out to be a pretty good kid.

The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass "An American Slave"

There was so much information given in Frederick Douglass. Douglass only spoke a little of his family. Who was the family members of Douglass?

From Frederick Douglass: A Who2 Profile (http://www.who2.com/frederickdouglass.html)

After his escape from slavery, Douglass chose his new last name from a character in the Sir Walter Scott book The Lady of the Lake... Douglass married Anna Murray, a free black woman, shortly after his escape from slavery in 1838. They had four children: Rosetta (b. 1839), Lewis (b. 1840), Frederick Jr. (b. 1842) and Charles (b. 1844). Anna Douglass died in 1882, and two years later Douglass married Helen Pitts, a white woman who had been his secretary.

More information on his children can be found at http://www.nps.gov/frdo/children

Information on letters to Douglass from his children can be found on "Dear Father: Letters to Frederick Douglass from His Children" (tp://www.literacyconnections.com/0_0962844802.html#)

As far as the whole life of Douglass and family members can be found on "Timeline of Frederick Douglass and family"
http://www.math.buffalo.edu/~sww/0history/hwny-douglass-family.html

The steps taken in finding this information:
1. I went to ask.com
2. I entered into the search bar "Frederick Douglass"
3. In some of the information I found the information that contained what he did after he was free, his marriages, and children.
4. I then looked into other family members of Douglass and more information on his children.

The Gracie Story

My death is the purpose of my uncle Sonny and dad reuniting. My parents nor I had no clue that I would make such a big impact on their relationship. By the time I was born the two hadn't spoken to each other in a while and my uncle's had been arrested due to some drug problems he has. My dad was concern and had talked to one of his friends about the whole situation but never wrote him until my accident.
Getting out of Harlem was my uncle Sonny main objective to life. He was successful with escaping, but realized while in the navy that people are the same everywhere. After leaving the navy my uncle and dad decided to move in together. After a serious argument my dad moved out which lead to years of them not speaking to each other. My uncle became involved with drugs. My dad had no clue on where he was didn't worry until he saw his brother's name in the newspaper.
My uncle had been arrested in a drug raid. My dad read it as he was on his way to work. All day my dad wondered where he went wrong. How could he have prevented this? Later that day he was approached by a childhood friend of him and my uncle Sonny. They talked about what happen. The arrested stayed on my dad's mind. He wanted uncle soon to know that he is there for him. He didn't know how he was going to reach out to uncle Sonny. He wanted to be the person who help my uncle change his life. He saw this opportunity as a chance to make up for the times in which uncle Sonny wanted his help but never received it.
Although my dealt was something that brought my family down. It also brought two of my family members together. I think that was my purpose in life, to bring the unity that was needed between my dad and uncle Sonny.

Helping those in need...

One group of people that we should never turn our back on is our family. Although they are stubborn and argrivating, we still can not give up when times get rough. In the short story "Sonny's Blues" by James Baldwin, the narrator has almost given up on his brother who was a drug addict. After a raid involving his brother, he was taken to rehab. A friend of the brother, came to visit the brother after the raid to talk about Sonny's situation. Sometimes it is the people that you least expect will make us realize that we have a responsiblity to watch out for each other. After this talk with this friend, the narrator began to think more about his brother and he begans to write his brother while he is in rehab. As soon as his brother gets out he is the firstperson he sees is his brother. When a family member is down, we as the people responsible for them should be for them at all times. What we might think is important is not as important as your family.
